BIG, Brighton design and illustration exhibiton @ the Rochelle School.

Yesterday during a rare rainy day in a rare hot London summer, the Lunatic Duo experienced yet another rarity -a degree show that was entertaining, exciting and actually very good.Without sounding overtly snobbish and mentioning no names, degree shows can sometimes slide into a mundane game of guessing which artist’s have been carbon copied for example, Martin Parr, Wolfgang Tillmans, Basquiat, Shrigly are sometimes a few of the usual suspects.

‘BIG’ however eschewed this game, presenting a case that in a few years the UK design and illustration scene will be something very special indeed.

There were many works that caught the eye, many ideas to enjoy and many names to take a mental note, some of whom included Elena Iezzi, Alex Simpson, Daniel Michael Clark, Daisy Gam, Edgars Zvirgzdiņš, Kit Mason, Miles Gould, Milly Freeman, Suzi Kemp and Tom Edwards to name but a few.
