Old Street is dead…get over it (clear, concise reasons)

The Lunatic duo took a walk through their favourite east London haunts yesterday. They quickly came to the conclusion that…Old Street is dead.

Dear reader, this may seem a little harsh but you have to agree that there is nothing worse then to see an area, that once held so much potential and creativity to become a soulless shell. Some may say it has become a parody of its former glory, an urban theme park. The lunatic duo passed the Old Foundry or the soon to be ‘art hotel’ (whatever that may be?). I am sure it will be popular with tourists and bankers but it really was the nail in the coffin. This site has become a symbol or metaphor for the futile resistance that his area now posses, it really is quite sad.

Sometime ago anything creative use to be focused in an eastwards direction, now it seems the whole of London is exciting? The of the duo feel particularly conflicted about this statement but have kept it in for prosperity.

However bad news for those now middle aged east London snobs who bitch about anything outside the Hackney- Old street triangle. Of course, those who are invested in the area will deny that the east is nothing but the epicentre of the artistic community. Somehow we disagree.

No doubt the east will always hold charm for the 18 year old Vice types fresh from the countryside and living on their pocket money. We say to them, enjoy! -just glad we did it properly.

Now we could go on about this and make endless passionate statements. However like all manifesto writing the power is always to leave the conclusion to the reader and no way persuade.
